The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction has just released an EWS alert concerning the appearance of the new substance U-47700 in Europe.
This substance has already been detected in Belgium : on January 22, 2016, the Belgian Early Warning System Drugs (BEWSD) at the Scientific Institute of Public Health (WIV-ISP) disseminated an alert concerning a death after consumption of fentanyl and U-47700.
Considering the relevance and the toxicity of the substance, we would like to inform the BEWSD network of this EMCDDA EWS alert, which can be found in attachment.
U-47700 is a new psychoactive substance with strong agonist activity at the mu-opioid receptor. Potency is estimated at about 7-8 times that of morphine.
